第1篇 英文演講小短文4分鐘

英文演講小短文4分鐘篇一

five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity.

but one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the negro is still not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of american society and finds himself an e_ile in his own land. so we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.

in a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check which has come back marked 'insufficient funds.' but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.

so we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the lu_ury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of god's children. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.

it would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the negro. this sweltering summer of the negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. nineteen si_ty-three is not an end, but a beginning.

英文演講小短文4分鐘篇二

those who hope that the negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. there will be neither rest nor tranquility in america until the negro is granted his citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

but there is something that i must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is ine_tricably bound to our freedom.

we cannot walk alone.and as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. we cannot turn back. there are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, 'when will you be satisfied?' we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we can never be satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro in new york believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

英文演講小短文4分鐘篇三

thank you, mr. chairman.

mr. chairman, i join my colleague mr. rangel in thanking you for giving the junior members of this committee the glorious opportunity of sharing the pain of this inquiry. mr. chairman, you are a strong man, and it has not been easy but we have tried as best we can to give you as much assistance as possible.

earlier today, we heard the beginning of the preamble to the constitution of the united states: 'we, the people.' it's a very eloquent beginning. but when that document was completed on the seventeenth of september in 1787, i was not included in that 'we, the people.' i felt somehow for many years that george washington and ale_ander hamilton just left me out by mistake. but through the process of amendment, interpretation, and court decision, i have finally been included in 'we, the people.'

today i am an inquisitor. an hyperbole would not be fictional and would not overstate the solemnness that i feel right now. my faith in the constitution is whole; it is complete; it is total. and i am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction, of the constitution.

'who can so properly be the inquisitors for the nation as the representatives of the nation themselves?' 'the subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men.'1 and that's what we're talking about. in other words, [the jurisdiction comes] from the abuse or violation of some public trust.

it is wrong, i suggest, it is a misreading of the constitution for any member here to assert that for a member to vote for an article of impeachment means that that member must be convinced that the president should be removed from office. the constitution doesn't say that. the powers relating to impeachment are an essential check in the hands of the body of the legislature against and upon the encroachments of the e_ecutive. the division between the two branches of the legislature, the house and the senate, assigning to the one the right to accuse and to the other the right to judge, the framers of this constitution were very astute. they did not make the accusers and the judgers -- and the judges the same person.

we know the nature of impeachment. we've been talking about it awhile now. it is chiefly designed for the president and his high ministers to somehow be called into account. it is designed to 'bridle' the e_ecutive if he engages in e_cesses. 'it is designed as a method of national inquest into the conduct of public men.'2 the framers confided in the congress the power if need be, to remove the president in order to strike a delicate balance between a president swollen with power and grown tyrannical, and preservation of the independence of the e_ecutive.

she looked up and asked, “can i help you?”

she smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to kiss her right there.

he said, “uh… yeah… umm… i would like to buy a cd.”

he picked one out and gave her money for it.

'would you like me to wrap it for you?” she asked, smiling her cute smile again.

he nodded and she went to the back. she came back with the wrapped cd and gave it to him. he took it and walked out of the store.

he went home and from then on, he went to that store every day and bought a cd, and she wrapped it for him. he took the cd home and put it in his closet. he was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. his mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. so the ne_t day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. he bought a cd like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. he took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out…

a careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless.

the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.

there was once a guy who suffered from cancer, a cancer that can?'t be cured. he was 18 years old and he could die anytime. all his life, he was stuck in his house being taken cared by his mother. he never went outside but he was sick of staying home and wanted to go out for once. so he asked his mother and she gave him permission.

he walked down his block and found a lot of stores. he passed a cd store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. he stopped and went back to look into the store. he saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knew it was love at first sight. he opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. he walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.

英語(yǔ)演講的小短文三分鐘篇三

love never fails. but where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. for we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. when i was a child, i talked like a child, i thought like a child, i reasoned like a child. when i became a man, i put childish ways behind me. now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. now i know in part; then i shall know fully, even as i am fully known. and now these three remain: faith, hope and love. but the greatest of these is love.

it hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. but what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

a sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.

the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

it's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

it takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. don't go for looks; they can deceive. don't go for wealth, even that fades away. go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

always put yourself in the other's shoes. if you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.

英語(yǔ)3分鐘小短文演講篇二

today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. what is success? it is what everyone is longing for.sometimes success would be rather simple. winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the e_am is success; making a new friend is success; even now i am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.

however, as a person's whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. is fortune success? is fame success? is high social status success? no, i don’t think so. i believe success is the realization of people's hopes and ideals.nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. and the most obvious characteristics of them are money, high position and lu_urious life. so most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. but the problem is wether it is real success. we all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. if we keep chasing them, where is the end? what will satisfy us at last? therefore, we can see, to get the real success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people's hopes and ideals.

different people have different ideas about success; cause people's hopes and ideas vary from one another. but i am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. these are the best treasures. so now i am very proud that i have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. it is my success, cause i raise up to challenge my hope.

what is success? everyone has his own interpretation as i do. but i am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. so ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life!

wish you all good success!

belief in yourself is the secret of success

from the moment we are born, our destiny had been set. it is the start of our life. as a little child, we go to school and are curious to everything in the world.

when we get older, we tend to understand the function in this world.

we start to think, sometimes wonder about life. ne_t thing we know, we are growing up. the world is changing, and our life is changing everyday.

right now, this particular moment in our life, we think again.

we have we done in our life?

are we successful?

are we rich?

are we happy? and flashbacks starts, the memories took charge of our brain.

we reflect to ourselves, we question ourselves.

why are we not successful?

why are we not rich?

why are we not happy?

then, we need to ask how.

how to be successful?

how to be rich?

how to be happy?

with the questions, we figure out the answers. one of the dominating techqniue to be successful is first start from yourself. believe in yourself. if you don't believe in what you can do, then who else?

if you don't care about yourself, then who else? trust your feelings, believe that you can do it. and as long as you hold that thought, nothing, nothing can stop you.

the successful future right ahead of you are led by a pathway called belief.

i received a devastating blow to my self-confidence in the first interview of my college years. i applied to be a host in our student acting troupe and felt confident that i would be accepted. but one of the panel members told me: 'you seem inadequate and you are a little vertically-challenged.' my life has never been the same since. i used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. but no matter how hard i tried to look the part, there was still something missing.

as president of english club, i organized the rehearsal of snow white for an english party. unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. it had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in english. suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and i knew i would have to be the dwarf. to my great surprise and delight, once on stage, i was totally absorbed in the performance and my humorous nature was put to full use. as the dwarf, i was a big hit.

yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us is an individual and each of us is unique. cultivating our individuality will transform our lives, making of them a kaleidoscope of new colors and te_tures.

a world deprived of diversity would be a bland and boring place. the real tragedy is not being short or shy or ugly, but having your identity lost in a world in which everyone is a clone of a model cool boy or a flawless charming girl.

given a choice, i would rather be ugly than live in such a world. i'd rather be a genuine dwarf accompanying a snow white than be a snow white among nothing but snow whites. i would rather be myself. i would contribute my individual and unique colors to create a more diverse universe. please, be yourself.

why does football get people into a frenzy?

who is your idol? it may be napoleon, picasso, or michael jackson. but who is my idol? can you guess? it is ronaldo. he is the no. 1 super star of football.

football is a game in which 22 people chase one ball around a large field. the aim of the game is to get the ball into the net to score.

after all, it’s such an easy game, and yet people go crazy mad over it. the answer lies in two facts. one is the game itself. sometimes it is beyond any description. football is a game of passes and techniques, passion and love, more importantly, unity is the key---the whole team working as one, united they will never be defeated.

the european’s style. of play is like a waltz, the brazilian like a samba, and the passionate argentineans play as if they are doing a tango. football is so unpredictable, so unbelievable. you will never know who will win until the last minute. especially when suddenly there is a goal, the fans who have been sitting on the edge of their seats, will be wild with joy and e_citement; and the losers with disappointed hearts will despair over their teams.

the other is of course the super stars. each one has his own personality, just like my idol ronaldo. when he smiles, we all smile with him. who can forget that buck-toothed smile, or that unique hairstyle. during the 20__ world cup. ronaldo was born to a poor family. he has set an e_ample to children who can’t afford a pair of shoes, but have talent and a passion for football. he gives them confidence and hope of a better future.

football is the game that wins everyone’s heart and the best game ever invented.

learn how to say no

we've all been taught that we should help people. it is the right thing to do and will make us popular with others. it may even win us favors in return. however, we must be realistic. we can't say yes to every request. if we did, we would fail or go crazy for sure. sometimes we simply don't have the time to help. in this case, we must know how to say no politely.

when we need to say no, here is one method we can try. first, we should tell the truth. if we really can't do something, we should just say so. second, we should remember to refuse requests politely. we must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. a true friend will understand. finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. it can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. in short, we cannot please everyone all the time. refusing favors is a part of life.
